What is Root Canal Treatment?
It is the process of saving the tooth by intervening in the pulp (nerve) tissue inside in cases such as deep caries, cases where some restorations are required, fractures or cracks in the tooth, and trauma.
In what cases may Root Canal Treatment be required?
- Deep caries and traumatized teeth
- Sensitivity to hot and cold stimuli
- Sensitivity to touch or chewing
- Tooth discoloration, swelling
Is Root Canal Treatment a Painful Process?
A painless process can be achieved with modern techniques. Post-treatment sensitivity decreases and disappears within a few days.
How Long Does Treatment Last? Will There Be Pain Afterwards?
Treatment is usually completed in one or two sessions. Sometimes symptoms may reoccur months or even years after a successful root canal treatment. In such cases, the tooth can be saved by repeating root canal treatment. In cases where endodontic treatment is inadequate, teeth can also be treated with Endodontic Surgery (resection).
